Why did Ter-Petrosyan back down on March 1?

“On March 1, 2008, everyone understood, didn’t they, that if Levon Ter-Petrosyan had left his home, everything would have ended. Why didn’t it happen? Then it was not a matter of whether Levon wanted to or not. Then there were forces that did not want it to happen, because if it had, the entire system would have collapsed and all the crimes would have been exposed. No leader would ever bring his country to the condition Armenia is in now, so there is a more dangerous blow that we know nothing about. This is probably connected with their personal affairs, as a result of which steps are being taken against the state. Now Serzh Sargsyan must take decisive steps, must back away from all the promises he made to his circle, and understand that he is answerable to history,” human rights advocate Arbak Khachatryan said in a conversation with Aravot.
